This circuit is ideal for lovers of culture and history. It offers travelers a look at the rich architectural heritage of the colonial era. It includes cities full of charm and mystery, with cobbled streets, main central squares, houses with walled gardens filled with flowers and churches that keep religious art treasures.
Day 1 – Bogotá
Arrival and transfer to the historic center. Check in at the hotel and time for adjusting to the altitude (2600m)
Day 2 – Bogotá
Tour of the historic center of the Colombian capital, famous for its magnificent colonial and republican architecture. In the afternoon, visit to the Botero Foundation.
Day 3 – Bogotá / Villa de Leyva
Immersion into the Pre-Columbian culture with a visit to the Gold Museum, which houses a collection considered unique in the world. After lunch, transfer to Zipaquira to discover the salt cathedral. Then transfer by road to Villa de Leyva .
Day 4 – Villa de Leyva
Tour of Villa de Leyva, one of the exquisitely preserved most beautiful colonial towns in the country. In the afternoon visit to the archaeological park “Infiernito”, an ancient astronomical observatory of the Muiscas. Visit the monastery “Ecce homo”, important place of evangelization in the colonial era.
Day 5 – Villa de Leyva / Barichara
In the morning , transfer to Barichara , beautiful colonial town declared a national historic monument. You will be seduced by the atmosphere of this colonial town that seems to remain unchanged since the time of Spanish domination.
Day 6 – Guane
Beautiful trek to Guane by an ancient Indigenous royal road . Visit the church of Santa Lucia and the paleontological and archeological museum which holds a small collection of fossils, elements of the native Guane civilization and religious art.
Day 7 – Barichara / Girón
In the morning , transfer to Giron. The road crosses the Chicamocha National Park and offers spectacular views of the canyon. Visit to the colonial town of Giron.
Day 8 – Girón / Bucaramanga / Santa Marta
Transfer to airport and flight from Bucaramanga to Santa Marta. Visit Santa Marta, the first Hispanic city founded in South America .
Day 9 –Tayrona Natural Park
Departure to the Tayrona Park, one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Walk in the Park to appreciate spectacular landscapes of tropical forest and beautiful beaches.
Day 10 – Cartagena de Indias
Transfer by road to Cartagena de Indias, the Pearl of the Caribbean. First visit to the historic center.
Day 11 – Cartagena de Indias
Tour of the old city. Visit the Museum of the Inquisition and the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas.
Day 12 – Islas del Rosario / Cartagena
Rest day in this magnificent archipelago, near Cartagena where you can enjoy of the beautiful white sand beach and the transparent water.
Day 13 – Cartagena / Bogotá / Return
Breakfast in Cartagena, transfer to airport and flight to Bogota. International return flight.
