This 12 days circuit introduces you to the main destinations in Colombia. Between colonial and dynamic cities, charming tropical nature, ancient cultures and founding myths, you will be captivated by the incredible wealth of this country. El Dorado route is ideal for those who want to discover, in two weeks, the vastness of Colombia.
Day 1 – Bogotá
Arrival and transfer to the historic center. Check in at the hotel and time for adjusting to the altitude (2600m)
Day 2 – Bogotá
Tour of the historic center of the Colombian capital, famous for its magnificent colonial and republican architecture. In the afternoon, visit to the Botero Foundation.
Day 3 – Bogotá / Guatavita lagoon / Villa de Leyva
Immersion into the Pre-Columbian culture with a visit to the Gold Museum, which houses a collection considered as unique in the world. After lunch, visit to the Guatavita lagoon, sacred place to the Muiscas, that gave rise to the legend of El Dorado. Transfer by road to Villa de Leyva.
Day 4 – Villa de Leyva
Tour of Villa de Leyva, one of the exquisitely preserved most beautiful colonial towns in the country. In the afternoon visit to the archaeological park “Infiernito”, an ancient astronomical observatory of the Muiscas. Visit the monastery “Ecce homo”, important place of evangelization in the colonial era.
Day 5 – Bogotá / Armenia / Salento
In the morning, transfer back to Bogota and flight to Armenia. Road transfer to Salento. First visit of the town.
Day 6 – Coffee Hacienda / Valle del Cocora
Morning dedicated to the process of planting and harvesting coffee, the “black gold” of Colombia. In the afternoon, visit to the Cocora Valley, famous for its wax palms. Hike to the Cerro del Morro Gacho to appreciate the flora of the region.
Day 7 – Santa Marta
Transfer to the airport, flight from Armenia to Santa Marta. Visit Santa Marta, the first Hispanic city founded in South America.
Day 8 – Tayrona Natural Park
Departure to the Tayrona Park, one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Walk in the Park to appreciate spectacular landscapes of tropical forest and beautiful beaches.
Day 9 – Cartagena de Indias
Transfer by road to Cartagena de Indias, the Pearl of the Caribbean. First visit to the historic center.
Day 10 – Cartagena de Indias
Tour of the old city. Visit the Museum of the Inquisition and the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas.
Day 11 – Islas del Rosario / Cartagena
Rest day in this magnificent archipelago, near Cartagena where you can enjoy of the beautiful white sand beach and the transparent water.
Day 12 – Cartagena / Bogotá /Return
Breakfast in Cartagena, transfer to airport and flight to Bogota. International return flight.
